RANKED 3A WARRIORS TRAVEL TO TAKE ON 1A FALCONS AT HAWARDEN NEST

One of the best games in the state will take place in Hawarden Friday night when the Class 3A #9 Warriors travel to tangle with the Class 1A #3 Falcons under the lights in what should be a crazy home atmosphere. This game is very intriguing as the Warriors are fresh off a 31-0 shutout of rival Sheldon. The Warriors held the Orabs to 2-11 conversions on 3rd down. The Warriors had explosive downfield plays with senior QB Zach Rozeboom who was 10-13 on the night passing and tossed (2) touchdown passes while connecting with four different receivers on the night. Senior WR Brett Schouten had (4) receptions for (108) yards on the night for the Warriors.

The Falcons rolled the HMS Hawks 73-21. The offensive explosion that was predicted happened. Senior QB Dylan Wiggins passed for (279) yards and (6) touchdowns while completing passes to five different receivers who all reached the end-zone. The Falcons were sharp and efficient on offense and only punted two times on the evening. The Falcon defense was stingy on the night allowing (177) rush yards on (49) carries for a paltry (3.61) yards per carry average. The Hawks QB Kooper Ebel managed only (3) completions in (14) attempts passing for (14) yards. Junior RB Carter Bultman ripped off (165) yards on just (6) carries for the Falcons. Senior Aaden Schwiesow scored (2) receiving touchdowns in the contest.

SCOUTING REPORT: I really do look for this game to be a chess match between both coaches. From a Sioux Center perspective on offense you would like to have a ball control offense to run some clock and keep the dangerous Falcon offense on the sideline. Easier said than done. I look for an electric atmosphere in Hawarden and it is the kind of home field advantage that can push you over the top. I anticipate a lower scoring affair that will end up being a four quarter ball game. The purchase of a game ticket here is money well spent as it should be a very entertaining football game.

COACH VANREGENMORTER WARRIORS GAME PLAN: “I was proud of our effort last week in our victory. I thought we played well for our opener. We did have (3) turnovers which we have to eliminate especially going on the road this week at West Sioux. We were able to hit some plays in the passing game last Friday night and QB Rozeboom threw the ball effectively going 10-13 through the air. We have a lot of respect for the Falcon program and it will take our best effort to get the win Friday night over what I consider to be a perenial power here in NW Iowa. The key going into the game this week will be protecting the ball and getting good special teams play,” stated Head Coach Van Regenmorter.

COACH SCHWIESOW FALCONS GAME PLAN: “I was pleased with the victory last week but we have areas to improve on and that has been a focus this week in practice. We will have to take what they give us offensively and may need to show some patience. We need to execute up front on offense and have attention to detail. Defensively, we have to continue to rally to the football. I thought our pursuit was good last Friday and we need more of the same this week. I have great respect for Sioux Center and this should be a good high school football game,” said Head Coach Schwiesow.
