The Black Raiders of head coach Trevor Miller (24-14) will travel to face the SE Polk Rams tonight for a 7:00 PM first pitch to try and advance to the sub-state final versus Waukee (26-11) which is scheduled to be played on July 13th at 7:00 PM at the Waukee baseball complex. The Rams are on a two game win streak which halted a previous three game losing streak. Sophomore Blake Patino (.312) and (24) RBI has been steady. Athletic junior outfielder Kelynn Jacobsen is batting (.292) with (22) RBI. Freshman Jax Theeler (.276) has performed well and has a team leading (26) RBI. Senior Vinney Pomerson (.275) and (10) RBI has been productive. Junior outfielder Jacob Brienzo checks in at (.268) with (12) RBI and junior infielder Lincoln Colling is batting (.241) with (19) runs driven in. Junior infielder Brecken Schossow is batting (.235) and racked up (16) RBI. Sophomore catcher Andrew Brown chips in at (.213) with (15) RBI. Young pup eighth grader Cal Jepsen who has started (18) games has performed well at shortstop and is batting (.229) in his rookie varsity season.
The Pitching staff leaders consists of senior Haukap (7-2) with a (.397) ERA and has struck out (57) batters in (47.2) innings pitched. Junior Colling is (4-4) with a (3.67) ERA and has pitched (42.0) innings on the season. Senior Johnson has put together a nice summer with a (4-2) record with a (3.66) ERA.
The Rams of head coach Scot Suprenant are led by junior outfielder Karson Keesey (.340) with (7) RBI. Senior outfielder Gavin McCrory (.305) has (16) RBI. Sophomore Draven Woods (.303) and (16) RBI. Junior Cael Suprenant is batting (.301) with (18) RBI. Senior infielder Miguel Bernadino (.278) and driven in (20) runs. The key run producer for the Rams is senior 1B Matt Rivers (.250) with a team leading (23) RBI. Another key bat in the lineup is junior catcher Jarrett Canida (.255) and (18) RBI.
