The Wolverines are riding high after extending their win streak to two games with a 40-12 home victory over Des Moines North in week #3. Senior RB Drew Benson continues to be the story for the Wolverines. Benson has racked up (500) yards rushing and reached the end-zone (6) times on the ground. Benson also has (11) receptions out of the backfield for (152) yards.
Senior QB Devin Frye has been efficient completing (20) passes for (324) yards and (3) scores. Frye has also chipped in (164) yards rushing. Other offensive contributors include athletic junior WR's LeMarion Mothershead and Kaevian Hayes. The Wolverine defense has clamped down over the last two games. Junior Tyrell Lafferty (12.0) tackles along with senior Brady Larson (10.5) tackles and junior Terrance Topete (9.5) tackles and (5.5) TFL have all been steady run stoppers for the Wolverines.
The Lynx are also on a two game win streak and are led on offense by run oriented senior QB Eli Lusajo who has rushed for (294) yards and (3) scores. Lusajo is a 50% passer on the season throwing for (228) yards and two scores. Senior RB Mikaele Hayes has rushed for (167) yards and (4) touchdowns. The two main receiving threats are a pair of seniors, Tim McCarthy (5) receptions for (74) yards and (2) scores and Noah Van Scoyk (6) catches for (107) yards. The main defensive standouts for the Lynx are senior LB Steven Smith (15.5) tackles and (3) TFL along with junior CB Wes Brown (9.5) tackles. Momentum and confidence is developing on the westside of town.....don't mess with a streak.
