THINGS I THINK I KNOW.....

Head Coach Jake Terry and his kids are (41-6) over the last four seasons. The bad news for the competition they face is they return a large nucleus from last years (11-1) squad that finished state runner-up. A true defensive leader returns with Senior LB Caleb Heuertz 6-1 (200) who racked up (57.5) tackles and (4.5) TFL in 2025. Junior OL Addison Peterson 6-3 (290) is a D-1 talent in the offensive line that had a great sophomore debut last fall. There is punch on the offensive side of the ball as well. Senior wingback Aiden Hammitt 6-2 (195) will look to follow up a (882) yard rushing season and (8) scores on the ground this fall. This is a great coaching staff that will maximize the roster talent. More to come over the summer prior to camp on this veteran team.

I am excited to see Head Coach Chad Moseman's 2026 Eagle squad in action. The Eagles earned a playoff spot last year behind a scrappy effort from both sides of the football. Senior QB Noah Drew 6-2 (215) returns after passing for (1,852) yards and (12) scores. Drew also tacked on (330) rushing yards and (4) scores on the ground. Two key receivers return to the huddle this fall with juniors Jaxon Otto (25) receptions for (234) yards and Kallen Goosmann (22) catches for (273) yards and (3) touchdowns and their production should rise. The returning tackle leader is senior Breighton Carlson who had (87.0) tackles and (9.5) TFL last fall. I look for the Eagles to soar into the post-season.

One of the best coaches for my money in Iowa is longtime Warrior Head Coach Justin Smith. There is really good momentum carrying over to this fall from a roster that is rock solid with experience at the skill positions. Senior RB Beckett Verros 5-9 (185) returns after rushing for (1,450) yards and (16) touchdowns. The Warriors also will have Ryan Husen (317) yards and (3) touchdowns back this year following an injury shortened season last fall. Senior MLB Xavier Jones 6-2 (215) returns after racking up (70.0) tackles and (10.5) TFL. My Player 2 Watch in the metro is junior ATH Justin Ehlers 6-0 (185). Ehlers will impact the game on both sides of the football. This team might be better than last seasons (10-2) squad that finished as the state runner-up in Class 4A. Stay tuned...great storylines here.
