Things get rolling today at the U.N.I. Dome in Cedar Falls for Iowa HS Football Semifinal action as the Hawks take on the Tigers at 4:00 PM today!
Remsen St. Mary’s Hawks Vs Lenox Tigers
Remsen is having a record setting season led by a record setting senior class. The Hawks seniors didn't lose a single regular season game all four years they attended High school. They look to add another win to their impressive resume on Wednesday, November 9th as they are set to take on another undefeated team in 8-Man football in the Lenox Tigers. Lenox is an extremely run heavy team that will try to wear down on Remsen's defensive front. Isaac Grundman the leading rusher and pass catcher for the Tigers has racked up 1,566 all purpose yards along with 29 Td's. He will be a point of emphasis for the Hawks defense to limit in order to be victorious. Remsen's firepower on offense has been a thing of beauty this year as they have managed to score 665 points in 11 games this season for an average total of just over 60 a game.
The signal caller for the Hawks offense, Senior Cael Ortmann, has some video game-like stats with 2,296 all purpose yards and 45 Td's. Not only do they light up a scoreboard but the Defense provides adequate field position for the offense drive after drive. Senior Jaxon Bunkers is a turnover magnet with 3 fumble recoveries, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks, and team high 49 total tackles. Bunkers and company will have their hands full on the turf Wednesday as this Lenox team has rushed for 61Td's on the season, form tackling and limited gains on first and second down will be key to slow down the run. This should be a four quarter shootout as most 8 man games normally are. Cael said this prior to this great matchup “We are feeling really good. We are excited to get back at it where we left off last year. We know Lenox is a tough physical team so we are gonna have to match that and also play St. Mary’s Football.” Kickoff is set for 4pm Wednesday, November 9th at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.
