The Dakota Valley Panthers of head coach Carl Reinhardt begins his second season as head coach. The Panthers will be looking to replace talented QB Drew Lukken. The debut of sophomore QB Tye DeGeorgia 6-0 (170) is on the horizon. DeGeorgia, the son of the late Wayne State College QB Jarrod DeGeorgia is about to have a coming out party. He is very talented and I am yet to meet someone who is more passionate about the game and really prepares himself well as it's in the bloodlines. DeGeorgia, at a young age understands coverages and knows how to find receivers at all levels of the field by keeping his eyes downfield and he will have some pretty electric receivers in the huddle to work with. DeGeorgia has put in time and has had a productive off-season of work over the winter. This seasons week to week development will be fun to watch. Follow DeGeorgia on X: @tyedegeorgia_

For those that follow high school football closely in the area there was one sophomore who played a big part in helping last season's magical run to the state title game for Sergeant Bluff-Luton. Now a junior, RB/Slot Ryan Husen 5-10 (180) burst onto the scene with (1,089) yards rushing and (14) scores on the ground. Husen did average (8.8) ypc. I enjoyed watching his HUDL film as he is used in a variety of ways on offense. Husen is a threat to go the distance at anytime. The jet-sweep plays and counter action in the running game allows him to showcase his skill set. One thing is certain heading into the season, Husen will have a huge impact on the success of the Warriors offense. Husen earned 2nd team 3A all-district honors and was a state track qualifier. The Hinton Blackhawks of head coach Kadrian Hardersen had an incredible season in 2024 finishing (10-2) and reached the state semifinal game. One consistent performer for the Blackhawks was junior RB Cole Friessen 6-0 (190) who rushed for (757) yards and (10) touchdowns and also contributed (32.0) tackles on defense to go along with (3) int's. In watching his HUDL tape he is a classic between the tackles RB and great in short yardage situations. Do not overlook his ability to take one to the house as he averages a solid (6.3) ypc. Friessen also caught (14) passes for (193) yards and (2) touchdowns. Friessen, will be a nice addition to a college roster after his senior season as he can really be a solid contributor at the next level. Follow Friessen on X @cole_friessen
