SSI GAME OF THE WEEK!

GAME SET UP: Two ranked teams #5 SBL and #9 Glenwood according to the Radio Iowa rankings square off tonight in Glenwood. The Warriors are coming off a dominating 62-14 win over Council Bluffs TJ. The Rams are coming off a 32-7 victory over Atlantic and are yet to trail in a game this season. I anticipate this being a four quarter game.

WARRIORS: Head coach Justin Smith is doing what he normally does and that is continue to improve week by week. Through three games the offense has totaled (1,011) yards rushing. The main ball carriers for the Warriors include junior RB Ryan Husen (292) yards and (2) touchdowns. Another junior contributor is Beckett Verros with (309) yards and (4) scores. Senior Joey Hardy has (21) carries for (173) yards and reached the end-zone one time. Senior QB Isaiah Jervik has passed for (164) yards and one score. Senior Gavin Warren is the team leader in receptions with (5) for (99) yards and one score. Make no mistake, the Warriors lean heavily on the run game.

The Warrior defense is allowing (18.3) points per game led by junior tackle leader Xavier Jones with (16.0) tackles. Other key contributors on defense include Jervik with (10.0) tackles and junior Aiden Konopasek with (9.5) stops through three games. Senior Gavin Warren has handled (6) kickoff returns and is averaging (27.8) yards per attempt.

The Rams defense has performed well allowing only (10.6) ppg. Sophomore Dylan Powles is the leading tackler with (17.0) stops and (3) TFL. Senior Tristan Ludwig has (13.0) tackles and senior Mason Koehler has (13.0) tackles and (3.5) TFL.

SSI TOMORROW HEADLINES TODAY: The stage is set for what I feel is one of the top games across the state taking place tonight. The Rams are defending home field tonight but I get the sense that they have not faced as potent running game as what they will see from the Warriors tonight. The Rams Reed is averaging (10.0) yards per carry and will get his share of yards but I look for the Warriors with good athleticism in the secondary will match up well on the outside versus the two playmakers for the Rams.
