GAME SET UP: Two very good teams are set to lock horns this Friday night as #6 SC East (4-0) travels to take on #5 Ankeny (3-1) in a game that will be decided at the line of scrimmage. The only blemish on the Hawks record is a season opening defeat (25-24) to current #1 ranked Waukee Northwest (4-0).

BLACK RAIDERS: Head coach Mike Winklepleck has his team focused and ready for their big game this Friday. The Black Raiders are led by veteran senior QB Cal Jepsen 5-11 (185) who is completing (70%) of his passes good for (886) yards and (9) scores. Jepsen has a D-1 talent at wideout with sophomore Isaiah Grant 6-2 (195) who has caught (18) passes for (344) yards and (4) scores so far. Other contributing WR's include sophomore speedster Tanner Bonstra (14) receptions for (145) yards and junior TE Kason Clayborne 6-3 (220) has (9) catches for (86) yards.

The Black Raider running game is led by junior RB Amos Collins 6-0 (180) who is off to a good start with (394) yards and averaging (6.1) ypc. Collins is also a capable receiver out of the backfield with (7) receptions for (69) yards. The offensive line featuring junior Camden Somsky 6-0 (260) and senior OT Isaiah King 6-1 (280) will need to be solid Friday night.

The Black Raider defense is led by senior LB Jacob Breyfogle 6-2 (220) who has a team leading (29.5) tackles and (5.5) TFL. The defensive line is a good one, featuring senior DE Jack Ohman 6-5 (230) who has (15.5) tackles and backside senior DE Colin Pittenger 6-2 (250) has performed well racking up (20.0) tackles and (7.0) TFL. Junior LB/ATH Claybone 6-3 (220) has (19.5) tackles and (3.5) TFL and can cover some ground with his size and speed. The Black Raiders also have junior CB Chris Ford who is sticky in coverage and has (18.5) tackles. Ford is a weapon in the return game with (2) touchdowns coming on kick returns.

HAWKS: The tradition rich Ankeny Hawks of head coach Jeff Bauer have a talented team that is a usual lock in the top ten rankings each season and this season is no different. The Hawks senior QB Kael Roush 6-2 (205) has passed for (615) yards and (6) scores. The main target for Roush has been senior WR Andrew Brandhorst 6-2 (195) has hauled in (20) receptions for (245) yards and (4) touchdowns.

The key offensive weapon is senior RB Daniel Larmie 5-9 (185) has put up good numbers over the last three seasons and is off to an electric start this season with (737) yards and (6) touchdowns. Larmie is also a good receiving back out of the backfield with (11) receptions for (124) yards. The Hawks defense is anchored by senior Nathan Becker 5-10 (160) with (17.5) tackles and (5.0) TFL.

SSI TOMORROW HEADLINES TODAY: This will be a hell of a football game. Ankeny will look to establish the ground game behind experienced RB Larmie. I feel the Black Raiders with their veteran defensive line will make things tough on the Hawks on the ground. The Black Raiders behind bulls-eye QB Jepsen should be able to hit some explosive plays down the field with WR Grant and TE Clayborne and the steady running game behind RB Collins would appear to be a nice recipe for success.

MILLARD PREDICTION:

BLACK RAIDERS 24

HAWKS 20

MCCUMBER PREDICTION:
