UNDER THE STADIUM LIGHTS: McCook lake South Dakota will be the sight for the week #1
matchup between Dakota Valley and Vermillion. Last year's matchup a 15-3 Victory for the Panthers is the outcome New Head Coach Kenny Wilhite wants to see but maybe with some boosted numbers.
Vermillion Head Coach Tom O’Boyle knows they have the tools to get the
tanager back to the playoffs after a strong finish last year. Vermillion will bring back their signal caller (SO) Hayden Christopherson who threw for over 1,000 yards his freshman year. The big threat to watch out for is the explosive (SR) wideout Zoan Robinson. Robinson is one of the top returning receivers in the state with multiple FCS and FBS offers. Robinson's speed and athleticism will be a test for the Panthers to limit and with another year of gaining trust from his QB this duo will make a ton of noise on Friday nights.
Dakota Valley will bring the same tough Defense from years past but may move the ball on
offense a bit different with (JR) Quarterback Drew Lukken and (SR) wide receiver Trae Piel. The intent from this year's team is to push the ball down field more on offense and win games in the trenches on defense. (JR) Lineman Easton VanScoyk will be a tone setter on both sides of the ball, if Dakota Valley can get a favorable matchup on VanScoyk's side they will look to exploit it all night.
ANALYSIS: The game will be hard fought with more fireworks than last year. With both teams being rather young, it will come down to who takes care of the ball and eliminates the mistakes out of the gate. Easier said than done for many kids making their first Varsity start.
