The longest tenured boy's basketball coach in the metro area is SC East boys basketball coach Ras Vanderloo entering his 11th season as head coach of the Black Raiders. Vanderloo is anxious to get the 2021 season tipped off. "It's a great time of year, I am always excited to get the season going. I believe we have a good group of kids here at East high school and we're going to work hard and see what happens," stated Vanderloo.
Coach Vanderloo is a five time district coach of the year and has compiled a (168-43) overall record as the Black Raider head man. Vanderloo was named 2017 state 4A coach of the year and has taken three different Black Raider teams to the state tournament including a 2012 runner-up finish.
