The excitement of a new season brings optimism to many teams. New beginnings take place such as head coach Jason Garnand in year one at Lawton-Bronson headed on the road to face Akron-Westfield. LeMars first year head coach Ken Vigdal will run out onto the field with his Bulldog team for the first time Friday night at Sergeant Bluff as they take on head coach Justin Smith and his Warriors.
Across town at Memorial Stadium, Sioux City East and Sioux City Heelan will square off in one of the state's best rivalry games. The West High Wolverines and Head Coach Brandon Holmes will host Des Moines Lincoln at Elwood Olsen Stadium. The high flying West Sioux Falcons and Coach Ryan Schwiesow will hit the road Friday night at HMS. Hinton plays host to Woodbury Central. OABCIG and head coach Larry Allen will take the first steps to a possible three-peat at Ridgeview.
Everything gets rolling Thursday night when the Sioux City North Stars of head coach Mitch Mohr will play host to the South Sioux City Cardinals and head coach Chris Stein at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
