CARDINALS MIX IT UP WITH WOLVERINES

We have Thursday night football to kickoff the holiday weekend! The Wolverines are looking to rebound after a 49-12 loss on the road to Des Moines Lincoln. The Cardinals are looking for the bounce back after suffering a 44-0 loss to SC North.

CARDINALS PREVIEW

The Cardinals led by QB Darius Helms stumbled out of the block last week which saw an uneven offensive performance. Xavier Ardley performed well at RB and QB Helms had his moments but the Cardinals should show improvement from week one to week two. I anticipate a better overall performance on the defensive side of the football from the Cardinals as they will not be dealing with a more diversified attack offensively this week as the North Stars presented. It is important for the Cardinals to get a running game established tonight to make this a four quarter contest.

WOLVERINES PREVIEW

The Wolverines of head coach Brandon Holmes are looking to get the offense firing on all cylinders. Senior QB Keavian Hayes has operated good so far behind center but a little more juice will be needed in the passing game. Senior RB Terrance Topete has run well out of the backfield as has Antonio Medina. The Wolverines can help themselves out by getting senior WR Lamarion Mothershead 6-3 (195) more targets in the passing game. Mothershead had (2) receptions last week for (55) yards. The defensive ring leaders for the Wolverines are seniors DE Tyrell Lafferty who had (9) tackles last week, LB Topete and sophomore LB Alonso Cota (5.0) tackles.

PREDICTION: I feel the Wolverines will be able to rush the ball as the Cardinals gave up (385) yards on the ground to SC North a week ago. The Cardinals need to sustain some drives and consistency offensively which I feel they will show some of that but just not enough in the end.
