SSI will keep you updated weekly throughout the season with our weekly notebook where we will share information on what we see at practice and speak with players and coaches to see how things are taking shape and who is stepping up prior to week one kickoff!

One of the better stories last fall was the resurgence of the Sergeant Bluff-Luton football team under the direction of head coach Justin Smith and his staff. The Warriors went from a (2-7) 2023 to a magical (13-1) season in 2024 reaching the state semifinal game. Several key players return from last seasons deep playoff run. I recently caught up with all-state senior OLB Joey Hardy 6-4 (230) a recent U.S.D. commit to get a feel for how the off-season has been for the Warriors.
"We all have been bought in and the off-season work has been productive. We understand that last year is behind us and we need to focus on the season in front of us now. As players, we have great respect for our coaching staff. We know they work hard as well and usually find time to meet once a week during the off-season. We have good leadership from our team and are excited to get this season underway. We did lose some quality players that have to be replaced but we will help bring our new guys along," stated Hardy. The Warriors open up on the road August 29th at Bishop Heelan in what will likely be one of the better games across the state that night between two ranked teams.
