SSI Football: Week #2 Friday Night Lights Recap!

Is your team Heating Up or Cooling down? Thanks to O'Connor Heating & Cooling for their support of SSI high school football. Let's check in on week two and see who lit the scoreboard up! Here are my current thoughts of the state of NW Iowa HS Football.

Congratulations to Class 2A CLGLR with their massive upset of Class 1A West Lyon by the score of 14-13 in the Beef Bowl. The Wildcats 28-game winning streak is ended with the defeat at the hands of their long time rival.

Congratulations to Sioux City West now (2-0) following their win over South Sioux City (1-1) by the score of 30-0. The Wolverines are yet to allow a point through the first two games and will look to stay in the win column when they play at cross town rival Sioux City North (0-2) this Thursday night 9/10 at Olsen Stadium.

Congratulations to junior Slot/WR Tyler Kloucek who became the all-time receptions leader for Dakota Valley with (5) catches for (196) yards and touchdown. Kloucek now has (67) career receptions and if healthy with the rest of his junior and season to play should set a record that will be hard for any future Panthers to attain.

#2 Sergeant Bluff-Luton now (2-0) came up with a gutsy road win 33-28 over #3 Council Bluffs Lewis Central. The Warriors had good offensive balance with (214) yards rushing and (151) yards passing by junior QB Justin Ehlers. The Warriors travel to Council Bluffs to take on the Yellow Jackets (0-2) this Friday 9/11 at 7:00 PM.

#9 Bishop Heelan (1-1) won at home over LeMars 17-7. The Crusaders will square off with #5 Sioux City East (2-0) this Friday night 9/11 at 7:00 PM at Olsen Stadium. Last year's game was a fire-fight going back and forth on the scoreboard with the Black Raiders eventually winning 42-41 in overtime. Last year's game featured (737) yards of combined offense and I am sure we will not see a repeat of that this Friday.

Elk-Point Jefferson moved to (2-0) with a 37-2 victory over Parker/Marion. The Huskies are set to host Dakota Valley (0-2) this Friday 9/11 at 7:00 PM.
