SSI Football: SIOUX CITY EAST PRACTICE REPORT

The Black Raiders will be on the road this week to take on their cross town rival Bishop Heelan Crusaders Friday at 7:00 PM. This Siouxland Rivalry has favored East as of late and they are a solid 4 quarters away from another win on the resume. Hear from OL Luke Vander Weide, RB Myles Wegher, and WR AJ Flemister on their matchup Friday.

Luke Vander Weide:

  • Going into such an important game as this Friday, how do you feel like the game plan is coming along?

"I feel great, we had some injuries hit us early but guys have stepped into their new roles nicely. Our front five will be ready to go and our D-Line is up for the challenge. Overall, I'm confident in what we can do"

  • Looking at Heelan's Defensive front, are you confident in the rushing attack?

"I would say so, yeah. We just need to execute and let our backs hit the holes we give them"

  • QB Jepsen and RB Wegher have produced well for you guys early on offense, what do you attest to that?

"Everyone has been putting countless hours into their craft, taking every rep seriously, and giving 110% at all times."

  • What type of atmosphere are you looking for on Friday night?

"In the trenches it will be a physical battle to start the game. The sidelines will be more energetic than in the previous two games. I'm just ready for kickoff 7PM can't come soon enough"


Myles Wegher:

  • What have you seen in the growth of your Offensive Line week one to week two?

"The line just stepped up and everything started clicking for us. All phases of the game everyone has improved from opening week to week two"

  • What is the key for the offensive-line do to be successful Friday night?

"Be physical up front and make sure we stay on the same page to keep drives alive."

  • How has QB Jepsen settled in as a sophomore making his third start this Friday?

"Great, he is a great leader on and off the field and he is a talented quarterback."


AJ Flemister:

  • Whats on the game plan for Heelan offensively?

"Just staying up tempo, getting through are plays and making sure we are in the right spots to be effective every play"

  • As a wideout with QB Jepsen throwing the ball, do you see areas of opportunity Friday night?

"Absolutely, after going through film we are looking forward to airing it out."

  • What needs to happen to end up in the win column Friday night?

"Make sure we are lined up correctly and on the same page, then go out and make plays."
