SSI Football: Here Are Some Playmakers At The WR/TE Position That Make Plays Under The Friday Night Lights!

Here is a quick preview as we inch closer toward the start of football camp on August 10th. Every football fan enjoys huge plays in the passing game. Here are several receivers who are dynamic downfield playmakers under the Friday Night Lights!

The Black Raiders feature one of the best WR's in the Midwest with junior Isaiah Grant 6-1 (185) who is ranked as a 4-star player and #20 WR in the country by 247Sports.com Grant broke through during his sophomore season which saw him haul in (47) passes for (734) yards and (8) touchdowns. Grant averaged (15.6) yards per catch. The Black Raiders will also feature senior WR Chris Ford (U.S.D.) commit (39) receptions for (661) yards and (4) scores. Junior Tanner Boonstra (36) catches for (472) yards and (5) touchdowns and senior TE Kason Clayborne (Minnesota) commit (27) receptions for (302) yards and (6) scores. This is the best fleet of receivers on one team in the state of Iowa.

Senior Grant Whitcomb returns for the Crusaders. Whitcomb hauled in (24) passes last fall for (572) yards and (5) touchdowns while averaging (23.8) yards per catch.

Senior WR Braedon Perez-Hietbrink is a key receiver returning to the huddle with senior QB Ezra Hibma. Perez-Hietbrink caught (23) passes last fall for (528) yards and (4) touchdowns.

Tradition rich West Lyon is well known for their power running game. Talented senior QB Easton DeJong passed for (1,300) yards and (16) touchdowns last fall. One of the main returning WR targets is junior River Kramer (18) receptions for (230) yards and (3) scores will likely have a bigger role this year in the passing game for the Wildcats.

The Braves return sophomore WR Wyatt Ludvigson who hauled in (26) receptions for (303) yards and (4) scores last fall.

The OABCIG Falcons have some playmakers in the passing game. Senior TE Jaxx DeJean 6-4 (230) (Iowa) commit returns following a (36) reception junior season good for (461) yards and (6) scores. Senior JJ Parks returns after recording (32) catches for (359) yards and (2) scores. Both players are in line for big senior seasons with senior QB Raif Jensen (U.S.D.) commit operating behind center for the second season.

The Woodbury Central Wildcats return senior QB Jaxon Verschoor who passed for (2,178) yards and (13) touchdowns in 2025. The receiver room is in good shape with the return of senior Jayden Lloyd (49) catches for (785) yards and (3) scores. Sophomore Grayson Lloyd is back in the huddle after catching (31) passes for (586) yards and (8) touchdowns.

The Eagles return senior QB Noah Drew 6-2 (215) is coming off an outstanding junior season where he passed for (1,852) yards and (12) scores. Experienced junior Jaxson Otto looks to follow up a (25) reception performance for (234) yards. Junior Kallan Goosmann (22) receptions for (273) yards and (3) scores is back as is senior Kolson McNear (15) catches for (157) yards. These three receivers will play a key role in how successful the Eagles season plays out.

The Stars of head coach Mitch Mohr will most importantly have back their talented junior QB Trey Henry as he was lost in the season opener due to injury. Having Henry back will allow the Stars to open up the offense and be more dynamic in a downfield passing game that will include senior TE Andrew Hagan 6-4 (210) who had (17) receptions for (165) yards last fall. Look for junior WR Finn Kuehl 6-0 (185) to carve out a role in the passing game as well.

The Wolverines have a nice athlete to work with at WR in senior Chris Joseph 6-1 (175) who caught (8) passes for (120) yards last season while averaging (15.0) yards per catch. Junior QB Tavine Irvine who passed for (561) yards last fall will pull the trigger under center for the Wolverines. I look for Joseph who can be dangerous in space to go over the (25) catch threshold this fall and showcase his athleticism in the open field.
