Starting to get organized for the upcoming high school football season as it is rapidly approaching. I took some time to look a couple weeks ahead once kickoff happens August 19th in week zero as SC East will travel to Glenwood to open the season. The Black Raiders begin camp on August 1.
The remaining Iowa schools will open camp on August 8th with week #1 kickoff slated for Friday, August 26th. Here are some fun early season matchups to look forward too. More news and updates to come.

August 19: SC East @ Glenwood: Week zero coaching debut on the road for new Black Raider head coach Mike Winklepleck who returns (9) defensive starters.
August 25: SSC @ SC North: Due to a new stadium build over in SSC this game will be moved to Thursday, August 25th to open the season and will be played at Olsen Stadium. New Cardinal head coach Jackson Dickerson will be making his head coaching debut here. The Stars of head coach Mitch Mohr are looking to keep momentum from a (6-3) finish a season ago.
August 26: Bishop Heelan @ SC East: This will be the head coaching debut of Jon LaFleur of Bishop Heelan. SC East head coach Mike Winklepleck will have debuted the previous week on the road at Glenwood. This is a tradition rich rivalry that features two new head coaches that played in this great series. Plenty of storylines here for this one.
August 26: Sergeant Bluff @ LeMars: Head coach Justin Smith led the Warriors to an (8-3) record last fall including a season opening victory over the Bulldogs 36-7. The Bulldogs of 2nd year head coach Ken Vigdal are coming off a (4-5) record but coach Vigdal was able to build the foundation to his new program as he preps for the 2022 season.
August 26: Akron-Westfield @ Lawton-Bronson: Second year head coach Jason Garnand and his Eagles finished (3-6) last fall but several young talented players gained crucial game experience. The Eagles won the opener last season 14-7 on the road in Akron. The Westerner's of long time head coach Eric Walkingstick are looking to improve off a (4-5) finish in 2021.
